Risk Without Regret – My Story

Interview Click the image to listen to the podcast or click HERE

We all have a story. We all have had trials, failures and success of some kind.

I recently had the opportunity to sit down and tell my story on the Risk Without Regret radio show.

There is a reason I share this outside of self promotion. It’s for only one reason really – to show others that we all have to overcome adversity and we are all human. The choice of success and failure is ours and no one else.

You see for over a decade I was ashamed of my younger years and tried to hide them in hopes no one would bring it up.

But guess what? Those stories of my past made me who I am today.

And I am okay with who I am. Shit – I like who I am and where my life is.

But I had to own my past as part of the story and not be ashamed of it.

  • I grew up in a divorced home.
  • I slept on a mattress on the floor.
  • I was a juvenile delinquent who was in and out of the system.
  • I was a single dad.
  • I have been fired from jobs I liked
  • I lost both my parents, lost my source of income, had a major surgery and had a son born in the ICU all within 6 months of each other.

On the flip side of that I have built over 20 projects, business, raised 10 million in capital, helped hundreds of people overcome adversity, I am an author, renegade, lover and happy with who I am.

This is my story. Unfiltered. Unadulterated and OWED.

Today’s lesson – Own your story. Don’t be ashamed of who you are.

Cheers!

Our Daily Struggles & The Universe at Large

Marcus Aurelius – Meditations

“Reflect on how many separate events, both bodily and mental, are taking place in each one of us in the same tiny fragment of time: and then you will not be surprised if many more events, indeed all that come to pass, subsist together in the one and the whole, which we call the universe.

We all have a series of things happening at any given time. From the stress of work, family and finance – to the weight of simple daily responsibility. At any given time we will often have such an assortment of feeling and emotion all happening simultaneously.

When we put that into perspective – there is a great parallel that is drawn between the personal chaos we create and the multiple facets that are all happening outside our reach in the greater universe.

It makes you wonder how we are all connected and the reach into things bigger than ourselves.

Have a great weekend!

Clearly Define the Person You Want to Be

Clearly Define the Person You Want to Be

“Who exactly do you want to be? What kind of person do you want to be? What are your personal ideals? Whom do you admire? What are their special traits that you would make your own?”

“It’s time to stop being vague. If you wish to be an extraordinary person, if you wish to be wise, then you should explicitly identify the kind of person you aspire to become. If you have a daybook, write down who are trying to be, so that you can refer to this self- definition. Precisely describe the demeanor you want to adopt so that you may preserve it when you are by yourself or with other people.”  – The Art of Living by Epictetus

Over the past 40 years I have gone through many personal changes. Who I wanted to be and who I became have been through an evolution. You know the cool thing – You can be and do what ever you want at any age. I know it sounds like a card you would get a high school graduation, but it is true.

Start with a simple list. Grab a pen and piece of paper. Write down 10 traits that you like most about the people in your life.

Why do you like these attributes?

What makes them so special?

Highlight or circle the words that you would like to add to your character when people ask about you.

Love, forgiveness, strength, happy, intelligent, driven, beautiful……..

You are what you practice and can be anything you set your mind to becoming.
Have a great weekend!

The Revolutionary. The Fighter. The Lover. The Visionary

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” -Martin Luther King Jr.

The pillow is cold the blankets are warm. It’s dark outside and the responsibilities are pilling at the front door. Snooze is now sounding like a sweet serenade to lull you back to sleep.

Get up – face the day and understand that the things holding you back should boost you up and over the wall.

Today is dedicated to the revolutionary, the fighter, the lover, the visionary and those pushing to make a difference.

Thank you Dr, King for all that you stood for and the insight you have shared.
Cheers!

Happiness in Giving

“Remember that there is no happiness in having or getting, but only in giving.”

“Realize that true happiness lies within you. Waste no time and effort searching for peace and contentment and joy in the world outside. Remember that there is no happiness in having or getting, but only in giving.”

“Reach out. Share. Smile. Hug. Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself.”

Og Mandino

As we head into the season, it is a great opportunity to remember the gift that is in giving. Have a great week.

Accomplishment and Reaching Your Objectives

QOTD-Accomplishment-Para-Gram

“The unlimited Creative Principle within you is the source of all art and wisdom” – A “Para-Gram” by Paramahansa Yogananda

ACCOMPLISHMENT

A “Para-Gram” by Paramahansa Yogananda

Efficiency that leads to success is developed through concentration and meditation. The unlimited Creative Principle within you is the source of all art and wisdom. When you want to create something important, sit quietly and meditate deeply upon it You will be guided by the creative Spirit, but you should also exercise determination in accomplishing your objective.

Awaken initiative, which is the creative faculty within you – a spark from the divine Creator. You must do something which will show that God’s creative principle is active within you. With uncreative principle is active within you. With unflinching steadiness go forward on your path, knowing that the Infinite Power sustains you.

As you head into the holiday season and give thanks for that which you have, keep in mind the accomplishments you have made. Are you where you want to be in your business, relationships and personal growth? If not what are the actions you are taking to change trajectory?

Cheers!

Horses, Birds and the Need to Impress Others

“Did you ever see an unhappy horse? Did you ever see bird that had the blues? One reason why birds and horses are not unhappy is because they are not trying to impress other birds and horses.” –Dale Carnegie
