  1. 85% of the world population lives in the driest half of the planet. 750 million people do not have access to clean water and almost 2.5 billion do not have access to adequate sanitation. 6 to 8 million people die annually from the consequences of disasters and water-related diseases.
  2. Every minute a child dies from a water-related disease.*Water.org
  3. Surveys from 45 developing countries show that women and children bear the primary responsibility for water collection in the majority of households. This is time not spent working at an income-generating job, caring for family members, or attending school. *Water.org
  4. Only 6% of international aid went towards investments in water and sanitation in 2011 *Water.org
